Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda and the Joe Walker Foundation will support road safety education, public awareness and community engagement activities across Uganda.

Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda has partnered with the Joe Walker Foundation to support a nationwide campaign promoting safer behaviour on the country’s roads.

According to an official announcement by Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, the partnership forms part of the 2026 Joe Walker Road Safety Campaign, which aims to raise awareness and encourage safer road use in communities across Uganda.

The two organisations will support a series of activities focused on road safety education, public visibility and direct engagement with communities. The campaign is designed to reach different groups of road users and keep road safety high on the public agenda.

Community engagement at the centre of the campaign

The Joe Walker Foundation uses public walks and community-based activities to draw attention to road traffic risks. Previous campaigns have engaged drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians, schools, traffic officers and local leaders.

Rather than limiting its activities to a single event or location, the 2026 campaign is expected to carry its road safety message to communities in different parts of the country.

The programme will promote individual responsibility and safer road-user behaviour while encouraging cooperation among businesses, civil society organisations, public authorities and local communities.

Continuing an established partnership

Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda has supported Joe Walker road safety initiatives in previous years. Earlier campaigns included long-distance awareness walks connecting Kampala with destinations such as Bushenyi, Mbale and Fort Portal.

These activities created opportunities to discuss speeding, responsible driving, pedestrian safety and the need for different road users to share the road respectfully.

The latest partnership extends that cooperation through a new programme of nationwide activities. Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda said the initiative reflects its commitment to working with organisations that address challenges affecting the communities in which it operates.

Corporate support for safer roads

Road safety partnerships involving private-sector organisations can provide campaigns with additional resources, visibility and access to wider audiences. However, their long-term value depends on consistent engagement and whether awareness activities result in measurable changes in road-user behaviour.

By supporting the Joe Walker Foundation, Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda is contributing to a community-led approach that combines public education with direct contact between campaigners and road users.

The partnership also illustrates how businesses with extensive distribution networks and daily exposure to road transport can contribute to road safety beyond their own fleet operations.

The 2026 campaign’s planned combination of education, visibility and community participation could help bring road safety messages closer to the people most frequently exposed to traffic risks.
